PENROSE HOUSING

Public and Private

Penrose housing is a small co-housing building with four units. Units are designed to share center courtyards while maintaining private front yard as well as an outdoor space on the second floor. Units are stacked in a circular form, generating unique floor plans, reflecting dependency of the community on each other. A strong bond between residents is promoted via design and physically sharing space while each unit is securely provided with individuality.

Terraced House

Terraced houses hold several advantages in maximizing outdoor space in the multi-floored building. Staggered and stacked floors allow outdoor space for each floor.

Penrose Stair

Stacked house ties four terraced houses into a single building form by placing each unit in 90 degrees to one next to it. The assemblage of units forms a full loop of space with possible complete circulation throughout the building units.

Stacked Houses

Unlike usual two-stories cohousing, the stacked house allows between outdoor space for each unit on the second floor. Units not only are part of the co-housing community but also are equipped with private space.
