SCHOOL FOR HOME-SCHOOLERS
Introverted building for an introverted school
What if a building is introverted? In today's pedagogy, students are educated to be extroverted and active. Institutional buildings are designed to advocate exposure of individuals regardless of personal attributes.
This project aims to create a space which pushes the boundary of conventional school architecture, promoting 'introverted-ness' and 'hide-outs'.

Building Organization
Four small scaled buildings extruded on the surface, visible and accessible from the ground while rest of the building spaces are unseen from the exterior.
Three sloped entrances bring the topography into the building, penetrating the building underground, merging with the interior building spaces.
Four sunken gardens puncturing through underground building vertically, bringing light and air into the underground school area.
Myriads of paths flow through the ground level green roof area, naturally leading visitors to the interior space through sloped entrances.
Building Levels and Topography
The floor level of the building corresponds to the terrain context of the site.
Gradual ramps are designed to merge into the meadow's ascending level shift.
Users can access and circulate the building via three outdoor ramps and vertical circulations within extruded buildings.
