Infrastructure and City

The design goals of neighborhood development and Brooklyn-Queens Expressway renovation are restoring former block figure, west and east neighborhood connection, and street vitalization via bike lanes and pedestrian walkways. Current ruptured city fabric will be reconnection through Williamsburg Green Nodes.

Special Zoning District

 

Phase 1

The development will take place in three phases. The first phase will focus on restoring former city block and seeding focal points of the program decided based upon surrounding contexts. The new bike lane will also be introduced and connected to former city bike paths, along with pedestrian walkways. Uninterrupted circulation and flow will help vitalize street of Williamsburg Green Nodes. Nodes function as playgrounds, bike park, summer street, food truck zone, reading garden, strolling park, church garden, and community garden.

Phase 2

In the second phase, the renovation expands to adjacent blocks. Blocks will be designated aa lot of deregulation to encourage new block development. In this phase, farmer's market will be newly placed across from the food truck zone to maximize community out-going events. Additional bike lanes will be introduced.

Phase 3

The third phase will expand the deregulation lots further, including current bus garage lot for the public transportation system. The current bus garage will be privatized with development rights of the block under the condition of improving current bus garage infrastructure.

Deregulated Blocks

Deregulated block design guideline is suggested in order to keep the city skyline pedestrian  friendly.
